"As a student, you are an academic equal"

Lydia Bezuidenthout is away from South Africa for the first time. It is quite different. Her biggest experience in Stockholm so far has been a hockey game at the Stockholm Globe Arena, although she has no idea about the rules of this game.

– Ice hockey isn’t nearly as violent as it looks on television; at least the game I watched wasn’t!

Lydia studies Political Science at Södertörn University College. She came to Stockholm because of a friend of hers, whom she met in South Africa. She also wanted to learn more about the social welfare system in Sweden. She appreciates the way of teaching.

– Since there are fewer students in each class, and as the teacher treats you as an academic equal, you’re able to learn how to express yourself more fully as well as defending your arguments. It’s a great way of teaching you how to operate in the real world of work after your studies. You feel well prepared.
