"Let a student mentor guide you"

Hélène Van Kerrebroeck is an international student from Belgium. She wanted to improve her English skills and had also heard that Stockholm is good at educating students in Political Science. Hélène was lucky to get a student mentor when she arrived. The mentor gave her all the information she needed to get her stay off to an easy and enjoyable start.

– I‘ve been to restaurants, cafés and areas that I wouldn’t have found on my own. It really helps you to get some tips from someone who lives here.

About the prices in Sweden, she says that they are about the same as in Belgium. The cost of accommodation, though, is almost the same as in smaller Belgian cities.

Since Hélène is a student at Stockholm University, she is close to the fitness centre, Frescatihallen, where she can do all kinds of sports. She would have liked more interaction with Swedish students but thinks this would be the same in Belgium, since as an international student, you are only here for a short while.

- I’m really satisfied with my stay. I’ve made a lot of new good friends among the international students. My friends and I often have nice dinner parties in the corridor, and every week we try to find new ways of exploring Stockholm and its surroundings.
